1) Overview
The Letter Campaign (“we/us”) is an artistic social experiment. By mailing a letter (“Submission”), you agree to these terms.
2) Eligibility & Authorship
You confirm you are 18+ and the Submission is your own work (you hold the rights to grant this license).
3) License (what you let us do)
You grant us a one-time, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, publish, adapt, excerpt, display, and distribute your Submission:
in one print magazine (single-issue, finite run), and
in an online archive and project-related promotional uses (e.g., social posts, press excerpts, mock-ups).
You retain ownership of your words; this license is limited to this project.
4) How your letter may appear
Raw: published largely as written (with personal contact details removed).
Interpreted: creatively analyzed/reframed/excerpted.
You won’t be told which until release. We may correct minor typos, adjust layout, and excerpt for space. Editorial interpretations are creative, not factual reports or investigations.
5) Redaction & Attribution
We remove personal contact details (addresses, phones, emails, exact handles).
Attribution uses first name + initial(s) if provided; otherwise you may be listed anonymously.
6) Selection
Only 75 Submissions will be included. Non-selected Submissions are not published.
7) Withdrawal
You may request to withdraw your submission until the Selection Cutoff Date, which will be announced when the submission window opens.
After that date, letters cannot be removed from the printed magazine, though we may consider removing them from the online archive at our discretion.
To request withdrawal, email [hello@thelettercampaign.com] with the subject line “Withdraw – [Your Name]”.
8) Boundaries
We may decline Submissions that include doxxing/third-party personal data, illegal content, credible threats, or hateful/discriminatory material.
9) No Compensation
Participation is voluntary; contributors are not paid. Magazine sales fund production and fulfillment.
10) Terms of Sale (pre-orders)
Print run: Limited to 250 individually numbered copies.
Pre-orders: Open when the submission window begins (date to be announced).
Shipping: estimated 2–3 weeks after release; delays by carriers or printers are outside our control.
Refunds: Available until files go to print (date to be announced). After that, refunds will be issued only for lost or damaged copies.
11) Limit of Liability
The project is artistic in nature. We are not liable for any interpretation, publication, or omission related to submitted material, nor for loss/delay/damage caused by postal services, printers, third-party platforms, or technical issues outside our control.
12) Changes
We may update these Terms for clarity/compliance. The “Last updated” date will change; material changes apply going forward.
